Olivier Giroud is set to leave Chelsea when his contract expires at the end of the season and his agent has revealed that he is not short of suitors across Europe.
The Frenchman has not been used much at all since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel as manager in January and a new contract at Stamford Bridge is extremely unlikely at this stage.
The former Arsenal striker turns 35 in September, and while that is making some clubs think twice, there is more than enough interest in him for a move to be made.
It could be that Giroud stays on in the Premier League, while there are also interested parties in Italy, Spain and Germany.
‘In January there was the possibility of bringing Giroud to Serie A,’ Giroud’s representative Vincenzo Morabito told Calciomercato.com.
‘We had spoken to Juventus and Roma, when Edin Dzeko was seemingly going to Inter. Now his agent is evaluating various different offers. There are three from English clubs, but also some interesting situations in Spain and Germany.
‘At the end of the January window, we met with Milan. The Rossoneri confirmed their interest in Giroud, but also told us they were evaluating younger profiles for their attack. That’s the last we heard from them, we’ll see for the future.’
Giroud has made eight Premier League starts this season, but only three have come since Tuchel took over and there have been none for him since February.
He has been a big part of Chelsea’s run to the Champions League final, though, scoring six goals including crucial winners against Atletico Madrid and Rennes and, remarkably, all four in a 4-0 win over Sevilla.
The veteran forward has scored four league goals this campaign, but only one under his current manager, who has favoured Timo Werner or Kai Havertz to lead the line and has largely sidelined Giroud and Tammy Abraham, who is also expected to leave this summer.
