It’s hard to believe Tanisha Gorey has played Asha Alahan in Coronation Street for twelve years.
Asha has been through so much during her time in Weatherfield. Most recently, the teen went through a huge ordeal that involved her trying to lighten her skin. Her confidence and self esteem issues were impacted even more when her boyfriend Corey (Maximus Evans) sent a naked video of her to their school mates.
Right now, Asha is supporting her best friend Nina (Mollie Gallagher) following her and Seb’s (Harry Visinoni) brutal attack.
As well as working with Mollie Gallagher – an actress who has only been in the soap for two years – Tanisha has also been working a lot with Sally Carman – who plays grieving mother Abi.
Asha is currently busy trying to expose Corey’s truths following Seb’s death. As this revenge plan is set to pick up pace in the coming episodes, Asha, Nina and Abi will be forced to work together when Corey loses his balance and falls down the stairs after Asha drugs him.
Asha is currently playing a huge role in this important and emotional storyline that explores social intolerance and Tanisha Gorey has been speaking to Metro.co.uk, revealing her most eye opening experience has come from being a part of this narrative:
‘Working with other actors has probably been the most eye-opening experience for me. Mollie – wow! She’s been here two years, she is this beautiful character, something totally different, floating around with a spring in her step. Then seeing her in hospital, not moving at all, Mollie is just amazing to work with.
And Sally, oh wow, the way she just cries. There’s a different between crying and sobbing – there is so much acting behind it, it’s mesmerising.’
‘I am honoured to work alongside them.’
