It’s an exciting day for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – they’re celebrating the anniversary of their nuptials.
The wedding was a huge celebration, being viewed by a reported 29.19 million viewers in the UK, and 1.9 billion across the world.
Since the wedding, the couple have celebrated happy times – like the arrival of their first son, Archie – but also faced some difficult times, including the highly-publicised move to America and toil with other members of the Royal Family.
Happy times are ahead for the couple again as they await the arrival of their second child.
How long ago was Meghan and Harry’s wedding and when is the second baby due?
When did Harry and Meghan get married?
The Royal Wedding was on May 19, 2018.
However, Meghan revealed to Oprah they actually exchanged vows three days before their official wedding in May 2018.
Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, countered this claim, however, saying if this was the case, he would have been ‘committing a serious crime’ if he had signed the marriage certificate on the actual day, knowing it was false.
The archbishop was speaking to a group of European newspapers when he was asked to address Meghan’s remarks.
He told Italian newspaper La Repubblica: ‘I met the Duke and Duchess of Sussex several times in a private and pastoral setting before the official ceremony on Saturday 19 May 2018. That day was the day of the marriage.
‘If I had signed the certificate on a different day, I would have been committing a serious crime. The marriage was celebrated on the 19 May. But I won’t say what occurred in our other meetings.’
When is Harry and Meghan’s baby due?
Harry and Meghan have been secretive about the due date of their new baby, but the birth of their daughter could be expected as early as June.
This is because Meghan is expected to be going on maternity leave at the beginning of June.
The couple announced they were expecting on Valentine’s Day, releasing a black and white photo of themselves under a tree, with Prince Harry resting his hand on Meghan’s head as she cradles her bump.
A spokesman for the couple said: ‘We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child.’
They announced they were expecting a daughter – sibling to Archie, born on May 6, 2019 – during their interview with Oprah in March 2021.
Betfair have odds on the baby being named Diana, in tribute to the late Princess of Wales, Harry’s mother.
