If you’ve ever wondered what Casualty’s Dr Rash Masum (Neet Mohan) looked like as a sixth former, tonight is your chance to find out (as a clue, you won’t have any problem recognising him).
When he spots patient Adil (Raji James) in the ED, Rash is transported back to his schooldays when he apparently had a promising career as a runner ahead of him, and trainer Adil thought he was headed for sporting greatness. So how did the would-be Olympian end up being a doctor?
Not that there’s much time for reminiscing, as Adil is one of those patients who doesn’t really want to be helped and he doesn’t make life easy for his former protege. Added to which, Ethan (George Rainsford) decides Rash should represent the department in a finance meeting – a role for which he is most definitely unprepared. Can he bluff his way through? And can he persuade Adil to take the help he needs?
Elsewhere, Faith (Kirsty Mitchell) looks after Bobby, a woman with dementia, and her husband Ken. This is a heartbreaking story, beautifully portrayed by real-life husband and wife actors Rupert and Emma Vansittart, who bring a poignant intimacy to the story of a couple whose bond is as tight as ever, despite Bobby’s illness. But Faith is concerned that Ken may be near – or past – breaking point and enlists Iain (Michael Stevenson)’s help.
Is there a bit of a frisson between Faith and Iain? Surely Faith has enough on her plate with Lev and Dylan.
And when a road accident victim reminds Tina (Adele James) of her late brother Nate she has to try to cope with her own feelings while doing her best for her patient and his fiancee.
But has she forgiven Jacob (Charles Venn) for not letting her know when Nate was dying?
